Who We Were

Long gone are the days that May spread the gospel of power pop. But they are certainly not forgotten.

It was early 2006 when the quartet first met during an open podium night in a bar in Schagen, Netherlands. And they immediately hit it off. The energy they felt when playing together was that good that they decided to quit their, at that time, current bands and start a new band together. In may 2006 the band was born.

Only a few months later May won the prestigious band competition Access Live which opened the doors to many podiums and gained a local following in West-Friesland. May did radio performances and toured the country, opening for big acts like Di-rect, Golden Earring and Van Dik Hout. They were also productive: in 2007 the EP ‘Open Your Eyes’ was released and a year later the full album ‘Echopark’. The latter was nominated for the West-Friese Pop Prize which took them to runner-up.

Being in different stages of their lives, the band mates could not work out how to make the next step together. So the decision was made to end their journey in may 2009. The era was short lived but intensely enjoyed.
